can i ask u how to do combat? and how to staff in them. ik this is embarassing but. im being forced to staff in a regiment so i wanna learn 😢😢

Replied on: March 31, 2026 at 9:35:17 PM

Hey! Thank you so much for the ask. This isn't an embarrassing question at all, I promise you. Combat can be difficult for people to learn and even more to try to moderate. I would love to explain it to you. Each regiment has their own spin that they put on combat and different careers within those regiments will have different modifications to combat. But I'll explain combat to you as I learned it, not including any careers or branch perks. This is just how basic ponytown combat usually works. The two members that are fighting will stand across from each other and state 'RTS'. RTS stands for 'Roll To Start.' RTS is only done at the beginning of a match and not seperately during every round. The two members will then do /roll and receive a number. Whichever member rolls the higher number will attack first. The member who rolled higher (member 1) will then state 'A' or 'Attack' enclosed by brackets [,(,{. This is how the member announces that they will be rolling to attack the member who rolled lower (member 2). Member 1 will then do the /roll command. If the number they roll is below 50, then their attack has failed and it is member 2's turn to attack. However, if the number they roll is above 50, it means that the attack landed. Member 2 is then given a chance to defend that attack. Member 2 will state 'D' or 'Defend' enclosed by brackets [([ in order to make it clear that they are making a defending roll and not an attacking one. Then member 2 will do the /roll command. If member 2's number is higher than member 1's number, then the attack has been successfully defended. This means that member 2 will not have received a hit point and they will be able to attack right after. However, if member 2 fails to defend the attack, they will have received a 'hit point.' The count will go up on the side of the member who was successfully attacked and not the one who made the attack. There is an important reason that you do not give the point to the person who made the attack. After a member has been successfully attacked, the score will be stated '0-1' or '1-0' depending on the side that the hit member is standing on. Then the next round of combat will start. The member who was successfully hit last will be the one to attack first when the next round starts. The process will continue until one member has three hit points. Once a member has 3 hit points, that member is 'downed.' This means that they are no longer able to combat and that member will lay down and sleep to indicate that they are out. There are three special rolls in combat that are generally universal. If a member rolls a '1' then that member automatically kills themself and they are downed immediately. If a member rolls a '100' then they automatically win combat and their opponent is instantly downed. If a member rolls a '69' everyone says 'nice,' in unison. As a staff member moderating combat, your job is to make sure that everything goes smoothly and clearly. It's really easy for people to get mixed up or lost, especially newer units. When you're conducting combat, make sure to ask if everyone knows how to do it before starting and if there's somebody who doesn't, give a quick demonstration beforehand. When making pairs for combat, always place inexperienced members with staff members or senior enlisted who know combat well enough to help you assist newer units. Monitor all the combatting pairs, especially ones with members who have a harder time with doing combat. This way you can make sure everyone is playing fairly and not getting lost. The best way to assist hands on is to actually talk those members through combat as they're doing it so that they can experience hands on how they should be doing it. The second way is to act as an arrow, and is generally more useful for enlisted who have a good grasp on what they're supposed to do but still need a little more assistance. Keep track of who's turn it is to roll at all times and indicate it with an arrow, with the pointy side pointing at the person who's turn it is to roll next. For example, if two members had made it through their first round of combat making the score '0-1' but weren't sure whose turn it was to roll next, you would type a '>' symbol in the chat to indicate that the member on the left (who had been hit last) would be the one starting again. I hope that this has helped you even a little bit. Even when I was still actively staffing in regiments, I also struggled with the rules of combat and got mixed up many many times myself. It can be difficult to get the hang of, especially since every regiment teaches it differently. I wish you good luck in your staffing endeavors!!! :)

Huh I never knew much about the regiments but I like how insightful your blurb about them is tho I may never join one but now I have some understanding of them now!

Replied on: March 25, 2026 at 7:04:28 PM

Hello!!! Thank you for leaving me a message, I hadn't had one in a little. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Funnily enough, it seems that mostly regimentgoers have been the one reading my guide, however it was always intended for the general public. While a lot of PT's player base will never even touch regiments, it's still a very large and popular sub-community within the game. It's important to me that casual players can still have a basic understanding of them, as it's guaranteed that everyone who plays the game will have an encounter with them or someone who does participate in them at least once. Regiments are very important to me so I feel having public knowledge about them available can help a lot more everyday players avoid confusion if they see one or so they can be included and in the know if regiments are brought up in a conversation. I'm glad I could help you! :)

Hey, I have a question for you, I am a person who once was in a Regiment a long time ago but have quitted it for private reasons, and joining back to the game, seeing the regiments still being active, I have the mood of joining them but I do hold myself not to for some reason. I am unsure if I should really give it a try again or actually leave it for good.

Replied on: March 8, 2026 at 5:24:57 PM

Hello!!!! Thank you for the question. It's entirely reasonable as to why you wouldn't want to join regiments again. I know firsthand how easy it is to be cynical of them. However, the community is always changing and growing and some of the groups running right now are kind, friendly, and excited to meet new members. I highly recommend giving the community another shot :)

Have a nice day or night!!

Hello!!! Thank you for the question! There are some other places to find regiments that are not docks. The two biggest alternatives are through ally links and what I call regiment alliance organizations. Most regiments offer something called alliances. This is essentially a partnership where both groups will advertise for their own group in each other’s servers through a designated channel. I notice you mentioned being in one regiment already and if it’s a newer one, chances are that they have an ally channel. One of the biggest ways I myself find active groups is by scrolling through alliance channels in regiments. The advertisement will usually include a lot of important information about the group and what they have to offer members that you won’t see from their docks recruitments. Even if you don’t see any groups in the alliance channel that interest you, I HIGHLY recommend joining those other groups anyways, especially the groups that a little older or that have more members. This is so that you can gain access to their alliances to see if any of their different allied groups catch your eye. Secondly, you can find an alliance organization. To put it simply, regiment alliance organizations are servers created to be a larger hub for most of the active regimental groups and regimentgoers in the community. However, these are rarely made, difficult to come across, and I do not personally recommend them, as they often go inactive and/or are prone to a lot of drama and internal corruption. However, you will usually find a lot of viable groups investing in them. There is always a massive alliance channel in them where you can find a bunch of regiment advertisements. There is only one regiment alliance organization that is active at the moment called the Eclipse Network. If this is something that interests you, feel free to add my discord superstitional.realism and I will try to get you into it. I hope your regisearching goes well! There are a whole bunch of groups out there, all of which are very unique and interesting. There’s bound to be a few that will really be worth your time and suit you really well. Also YESSSS HORSE RACE TESTS!!!! I LOOOOVE HORSE RACE TESTS!!!! I’ve seen so very little HRT fans!!! I’m always glad to see you guys pop up on my radar!!! You have a good day/night as well!

i just finished reading your regi guide, and i have to commend you on how simple it was to understand ! i've been curious about regiments ( possibly planning to start my own ) and your guide helped me understand what i was confused about ! thank you very much and i hope you have a good day / night !!!! :)

Thank you SO much! I'm glad it's functioning as intended. I didn't have anyone to proof read so it's relieving it know that it's easy to understand. I wish you good luck with starting your regiment but if you aren't already in one, I recommend enlisting into a regiment for awhile first before jumping into regiment creation. I hope you have a wonderful day/night wherever you are! Thank you for giving my guide a look :)

Hi! I've been in a ton of regiments, species, and scouts, but I'm still unsure on how I should start my own regispecies. Any tips? (( I'd read the guide, but my laptop can't load rentry..)) Also, your github is very well made! You're truly a saint for your knowledge, and happy late valentines!

Replied on: February 16, 2026 at 9:32:22 PM

Hello!!! It’s a shame to hear that you can’t read the guide but I’m glad you can see my github! I appreciate the compliment, it’s my first one. And happy late Valentines day to you as well! I’ve given a lot of solid tips to a questioner lower down in my atabook, so take a look at that for general tips on regiment starting. However, since you are making a regispecies, I have some unique tips for you. Firstly, work out your species before you actually ever work on the regiment. Figure out what you want your species to look like, how their biology works, how they came to be, what they do and how they function. The species aspect is far more important than the regiment aspect, as it is what sets your regiment out from other groups. And making the actual regiment will be easier once you understand the species that you’re shaping it around Secondly, figure out what ‘regispecies’ means to you. A lot of regispecies that I’ve come across do not make sense. The ‘regiment’ aspect is neglected in their species or has no reason to actually be there. People usually join regiments for the regiment’s functions and so do not always require lore or background to have interest in the group. When people join a species, there is usually some expectation of there to be a basic story to it so that they can connect better to their characters. So when you have a species and the regiment is... just there it can really make it harder to immerse yourself in the group. Especially if having a regiment would narratively contradict some aspects of your species The best regispecies, in my opinion, are the ones who are able to make their regiment a core aspect of their species. Rather than trying to fit a species into a regiment, they fit the regiment into the species. This is why I generally classify regispecies as regiscouts, as the regiment aspect of their group will often look different depending on what makes sense for their species. Some regispecies operate more like scouts because it makes sense for their worldbuilding. Some will take basic regiment concepts and make them unique to their group. For example, maybe your species is fighting with some outside forces. Maybe your species indulges in ritualistic combat to appease their gods or their leader. Maybe your species are invasive and look to conquer smaller species. Maybe your species are messengers between larger groups. Maybe your species are guardians and caretakers of their territory. There are so many reasons you could have to make them a regiment. Let your species be the foundation for which you build everything else. Don’t have a regiment for the sake of having a regiment. Give it purpose. Give it reason. Overall, that’s the best advice I could give you. Thank you SO much for the question and I bid you good luck with your regispecies making!

DYSS February 13, 2026 at 6:16:23 PM

Hello! A question I have for you: how do you feel about uniform stealing, and uniform stealing "groups"? I own one. It started as a way for me to take inspiration from uniforms, but now it's just something we do for fun, no distribution, just storage. ^^ There's a nice, small amount of us. I've interacted with maybe two or three groups like us; it's a nice rush, the feeling it gives. It's a good way to document the changes in the regiment community, I find. The amount of scouts vs. the amount of regiments, the way uniforms are published, the new mediums... It's an odd way to do it for sure, but it's fun.

Replied on: February 18, 2026 at 12:24:08 AM

Hello! Thank you for the question :) Ultimately, my opinion depends on the intent behind uniform theft. I grew up in the 2020 era of regiments where regiments with colorful uniforms made a big deal out of uniform theft. Their uniforms were important to them, since they put so much time and effort into conceptualizing and making them. A uniform is integral to a regiment. It’s how you differentiate your members from everyone else’s. It’s representative of the community it comes from. This is why regiments are so careful about how and when you wear a uniform, since when you wear it, it’s reflecting the group as a whole. To have someone act out in that uniform damages a regiment’s reputation. Which is why they take it so seriously when someone steals their uniform. They have no idea what that person is going to do in it. For all they know, that person could say the most heinous things in the public eye and make their regiment look poorly. I do not advocate for uniform stealing, especially as retaliation, and I will shame and shun those who purposefully put regiment staff in stressful situations. I think it’s cruel and I think it’s selfish. There is no justification for putting people in a position where they have to fear for their group and the controversy that uniform theft can lead to. However, I was also primarily in a group who simply ignored and blocked uniform stealers. In fact, we sometimes got a kick out of seeing it. Jennie was like a micro-celebrity during that time, and a few regiments found humor out of it since she never really did anything. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of regiments were utterly mortified of her. But she just sat around, with no ill intention. I also found the humor in it eventually, only for the reason that I’ve been in this community long enough to know that Jennie wasn’t a threat. Although I understood why it upset so many people I can completely understand and get behind people who wish to archive and observe a regiment’s history and evolution. I think that’s a valid reason to collect uniforms and although I still don’t think it’s an okay thing to do without permission, as long as there isn’t any malicious intent behind it, it isn’t something I would raise hell about. I feel as though at the very least there should be some etiquette to it. If you’re going to steal uniforms for fun or for archive reasons, it should be done in private and not distributed, as you said. Nor do I believe that you should be sitting in public in the uniforms of any active groups. Again, although I don’t support it, if uniform stealing is done in a way that doesn’t disturb or harm anyone or any groups, it doesn’t bother me.

hi its solar ok 🤑 what do you think of GF heheh

Replied on: February 16, 2026 at 7:17:56 PM

Hi Solar!!! Thank you for your question, I enjoy being asked these about specific regiments :) GF is a regiment that I’m not too intimate with but I’d say I have some fairly good opinions on it. When I initially started feeling out my identity as Realism, I actually didn’t want anything to do with any other regiments. But one day I was on ponytown and despite my better judgement, I saw your uniform and it intrigued me. I asked to join into your group and that kicked off my regiment spectating! Through an initial look-through of your server, I don’t see anything that I personally disagree with in terms of operating. I think that everything is well-formatted and very clearly laid out. I get a very fun and lively vibe from it and your staff seem very enjoyable. I often see you and your group on ponytown, and even before I started furthering my interaction with the community, I felt very comfortable around GF. I often saw you pop up in very large groups at docks when recruiting, which tells me that your members are very dedicated and passionate about your group. Your members tend to group together rather than sitting apart, which also tells me that your group is generally very comfortable with one another. Which is always a good sign. While other groups tend to speak casually or chat with other people at docks, your group caught my eye because of the lengths your members have gone to socalize. Both with other people and each other. It makes you come off as approachable and welcoming. Although I fully understand why groups are silent or keep to themselves during public appearances, coming off so casually and friendly can help other people to feel less intimated around you. I sometimes have a personal bit of pretending to be in love with regiments, and I appreciated your group playing into that and joking around with me. A couple of weeks ago I “married” GF and it made my day. I don’t know nearly enough about your group to have any criticisms, but I can say for certainty that GF comes off as a very friendly and energetic regiment. You seem very sociable and it isn’t hard to gauge from an outside perspective that you’re a tightly-knit group who’s very connected to one another, which is something that is rare to see. Outwardly, it’s really hard to tell how a regiment’s members are bonded to one another. Most regiments give off the feeling that their members are simply acquainted or friendly, as they keep to themself or are too new to feel like there’s any chemistry between their members. With group, it isn’t hard to tell at all. Overall, GF seem like a very lovely group with a passionate, welcoming community. I absolutely love GF and I smile whenever I see you pop up at docks! I hope your regiment continues to grow and flourish and that it lives a long and peaceful life. Thank you for the inquiry. Signed, GF’s loving wife. :)

hi friend!! 🍪🌈 i absolutely love your regiment guide so much! im a seasoned regiment go-er but i even i learned a thing or two from it. :D is there anything in particular you look for when joining groups? do you look at uniforms, lore, units, etc? i've always wanted to make a survey about that stuff as someone who has been staff in a handful. personally, i always look at uniforms & theme-ing when joining, as i find those to be the most appealing parts!

Replied on: February 16, 2026 at 6:47:25 PM

Hello, friend!!! I’m SO glad you could learn something new from my guide, even as an experienced regimenter. Sorry for the late response, weekends tend to be my slow days. These days, I join every group I can just to stay up to date with what’s going on in the community. I would call myself generally retired from regiments. However, I occasionally do finds groups that catch my eye that I would consider joining for more than knowledge purposes I usually look at theming as well as operations. I’m usually drawn to numbered regiments but when I see a concept that I have personal interests in or concepts that are particularly unique, I’ll prioritize looking into them It also matters to me how a group conducts itself. Its guidelines, core values, associations, and policies are all things that attract me. If I disagree with how a group runs itself, I will generally avoid investing my time into it. Nice concept and theme is all well and good, but if I couldn’t see myself thriving in a group, it doesn’t mean anything to me. If a regiment is well run, it’s a priority for me to keep an eye on I also make it a point to avoid waitlist groups, as I tend to forget about them until they open, IF they open at all. I will also tend to avoid a group if they’re blacklist heavy I appreciate the question! Ultimately, I love all regiments but some regiments will interest me more than others :)
